Year: 2025
Type: article
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The study aims to investigate the relationship between workplace commitment, skill discretion, and mental health. A cross-sectional study was undertaken involving 375 faculty. Data were obtained through an online survey to evaluate workplace commitment, skill discretion, vigor, and mental health outcomes. Workplace commitment positively influences vigor (B = 0.515, p < 0.001), which negatively affects mental health (B = −0.359, p < 0.001). Skill discretion enhances vigor significantly (B = 0.164, p = 0.001). Vigor mediates the correlation between workplace commitment and mental health. No gender differences were observed. Workplace commitment has a positive influence on vigor, which in turn affects mental health outcomes. Vigor serves as a mediator between workplace commitment and mental health. These findings highlight the significance of fostering commitment and providing skill discretion to promote employee well-being.
