Abstract: ABSTRACT First Person is a series of interviews with the first authors of a selection of papers published in Journal of Cell Science, helping researchers promote themselves alongside their papers. Malina Iwanski is first author on ‘ Polarity reversal of stable microtubules during neuronal development’, published in JCS. Malina conducted the research described in this article while a PhD student in Lukas Kapitein's lab at Utrecht University, Utrecht, The Netherlands. She is now a Postdoc in the lab of Gaia Pigino at Human Technopole, Milano, Italy. Malina studies the microtubule cytoskeleton in different systems, like neurons or cilia, from a biophysics perspective using a range of (super-resolution) light and electron microscopy techniques both in vitro and in cells.
