Abstract: Community-based psychiatric staff, such as the Youth ACT teams that are being initiated across New York State, are at risk for compassion fatigue due to their proximity to the trauma of their patients. This literature review explores current evidence that is available on the topic and grapples with what can be done to support psychiatric staff who work in the community with patients who experience trauma.
