Abstract: An academic journal serves as a vessel for the intellectual accumulation of a discipline and a public forum where the research community produces, validates, and shares knowledge.Since its founding, the Exercise Science journal has recorded the academic growth of Korean exercise science by publishing in both Korean and English. It has provided domestic researchers with a platform to publish their findings in their native language while maintaining connections with the global audience through English abstracts and articles. However, the academic publishing landscape is changing rapidly. The expansion of international databases, the universalization of open access, and the strengthening demands for research transparency have transformed the question of which language and methods a journal uses to disseminate knowledge from a matter of simple choice to one of strategic decision-making.In this context, our journal has decided to implement full English publication starting with Issue 2 of 2026 (May 2026).We hope that this transition will not be merely a change in publication language. We aspire for this to be an opportunity to align the entire process-from research design to reporting, peer review, and dissemination-with international standards, and to connect our unique research environment and knowledge ecosystem to the global academic conversation. The change in language is not an end in itself but a new starting point for exercise science to contribute to and be recognized by the international academic com-munity.We anticipate that this transition to English will serve as a catalyst for our journal's advancement to greater excellence. This editorial aims to share with our members the rationale and direction of this transition from the perspectives of 'Why-What-How.'We hope this will be an opportunity to collectively reflect on and build consensus around why English publication is necessary now, what should be changed and what should be preserved, and what values we should uphold throughout this process.
