Abstract: In 1998 King's College School of Medicine and Dentistry merged with the United Medical and Dental Schools of Guy's and St Thomas' and King's College London to become the Dental Institute of KCL. At that point Professor Frank Ashley, Dean of UMDS, became the Dental Institute's first dean.
