Abstract: : This study investigated gender differences in the relationship between the Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) and analgesic treatment in patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy. : The study included 405 patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at the Second Hospital of Anhui Medical University from November 2022 to April 2023. The outcome was received analgesic treatment at 1 or 24h postoperative. Univariate logistic regression models were conducted to screen potential covariates. The associations between CVAI and analgesic application were explored by utilizing univariate and multivariate logistic regression models. Odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were illustrated to show the results. : In total, 161 males and 244 females who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy were included for further analysis. And 27 patients received 1h postoperative analgesia, 82 patients received 24h postoperative analgesia. One hour after surgery, CVAI of 66.84-107.74 (OR=0.07, 95%CI: 0.01-0.45) and ≥107.74 (OR=0.02, 95%CI: 0.00-0.17) were linked to lower analgesic treatment in males. Among females, CVAI ≥105.90 (OR=0.10, 95%CI: 0.02-0.45) was linked to decreased need for analgesic. When 24h after surgery, CVAI of 66.84-107.74 (OR=0.42, 95%CI: 0.22-0.79) was linked to lower needs for analgesia in males. In females, CVAI of 59.42-105.90 (OR=0.28, 95%CI: 0.12-0.61) was related to lower odds of analgesic treatment. : The association of CVAI with analgesic treatment after laparoscopic cholecystectomy differs by gender. CVAI may be used for analgesic treatment stratification for patients who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
