Abstract: For life care planners and case managers working with clients with brain injury, a neuropsychological evaluation can be an invaluable tool in assessing sequelae of the brain injury as well as the long-term impact of the brain injury on the client’s functional status. This article provides an introduction to neuropsychological evaluation, including what tests commonly are included in an evaluation, when an evaluation is best administered, how to identify a competent neuropsychologist, and how certain factors can affect the accuracy and validity of the test results.
