Brain Injury Rehabilitation for the Life Care Planner: A Look Through the Family Kaleidoscope
Year: 2003
Type: article
Abstract: The enormous burden and stress experienced by families with a family member with a brain injury has recently been addressed in the rehabilitation literature. The literature would suggest a positive relationship between the functioning of the family and rehabilitation outcomes. Using a family systems perspective, this article describes various interventions aimed at strengthening the family support system. In developing life care plans for individuals with brain injuries, it is essential that life care planners take into account the need for interventions that support and strengthen the family.
