The quiet labour of energy (in)justice struggles
Year: 2025
Type: editorial
Abstract: Energy injustices are contingent upon the enactment of infrastructural, extractive, affective and socially reproductive labour. However, these relationships are often overlooked in mainstream energy justice debates. I argue in favour of centring labour in debates on energy (in)justice, as a means of integrating the socio-political dynamics of energy systems, and unequal access to resources. A holistic understanding of labour's role in the production and experience of energy-related inequities is essential for advancing scientifically interdisciplinary, conceptually coherent and politically actionable energy justice frameworks.
