Friedel–Crafts acylation via interrupted Beckmann fragmentation of activated ketones

Abstract: A new approach to Friedel–Crafts acylation is presented using bench-stable acylation reagents, α-oximinoketones. This method was enabled by the reaction between arenes and acylium ions derived from the selective C–C bond cleavage of α-oximinoketones.
