Abstract: In these comments, I focus on Chapter 9 of Lara Ostaric’s The Critique of Judgment and the Unity of Kant’s Critical System, titled “Kant’s Teleological Philosophy of History.” My aim is to share some questions and critical remarks concerning the role that Ostaric assigns to nature’s alleged aim in human history, and suggest that moral development, progress, civilization, and culture all mirror aims of freedom – not of nature.
