Confinement Driven Spin‐Texture Evolution in Directly Written Nanomagnets (Adv. Funct. Mater. 49/2025)

Type: article
Abstract: Directly Written Nanomagnets In their Research Article (10.1002/adfm.202513904), Michał Krupiński, Magnus Nord, Rantej Bali, and co-workers demonstrate the formation of localized perpendicular spins due to geometric confinement. A nano-focused beam of Neon ions is deployed to generate lattice ordering locally within a short-range ordered alloy. Lattice ordering leads to the onset of ferromagnetism and the quasi-one-dimensional geometry forces localized core spins to align along the z-axis, i.e. perpendicular to the film plane. Spins aligned to the z-axis are beneficial for a variety of applications, from data-storage bits to spin qubits.
