Abstract: Malignant pleural mesothelioma (PM) is the most common primary tumour of the pleura. Accurate staging is essential for treatment selection and prognostication. The 9th edition of the TNM classification introduces validated, imaging-based updates to tumour (T), node (N), and metastasis (M) staging. This article explores the scientific rationale and clinical utility of TNM 9, with a focus on imaging techniques, automated tumour volume assessment, and future developments in imaging and artificial intelligence.
