Immune homeostasis across kingdoms: A shared challenge

Abstract: Plants and animals face the shared challenge of immune homeostasis. Tomato anti-systemin (antiSYS) and human interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) exemplify convergent strategies to restrain phytocytokine/cytokine signaling. Understanding this shared logic offers opportunities to fine-tune plant immunity, minimize growth trade-offs, and enhance crop resilience.
