Molten salt assisted synthesis of a lignin derived porous carbon host for lithium–sulfur battery cathodes

Abstract: Porous carbons were produced by molten salt assisted activation for use in Li–S battery cathode. The best performing composite displayed high sulfur utilization and good electrochemical performance even at high mass loading of sulfur at 5.15 mg cm −2 .
