Abstract: Type of Research: Single-center retrospective review of prospectively collected data.Key Findings: Low-dose beta blockers were associated with lower odds of prolonged length of stay following TCAR.Cardioselective beta blockers were associated with lower odds of prolonged length of stay following TCAR.The observed associations may be explained by a modulation of the carotid bulb reflex by these beta blockers, reducing significant postoperative hemodynamic changes.Take Home Message: Our findings suggest that preoperative medication regimen may influence postoperative hemodynamics and recovery, warranting further investigation into the physiological and clinical implications of specific antihypertensive regimens prior to TCAR. TABLE OF CONTENTS SUMMARY:Low-dose and selective beta blockers in preoperative antihypertensive regimens were associated with reduced odds of prolonged length of stay following transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) in this retrospective review of 194 patients undergoing intervention for carotid stenosis.Optimizing preoperative medications may reduce the odds of prolonged length of stay after TCAR.
