Abstract: The adolescent mental health landscape is rapidly evolving as AI reshapes how young people connect and navigate developmental challenges. From the known harms of machine learning algorithms reinforcing pathology on social media to the emerging risks of generative AI fostering emotional attachments in vulnerable youth and future risks of agentic AI pursuing its users proactively, AI’s evolution will have important implications for clinical practice and public policy.
