Optimization of ecological and economic network in coastal areas based on MOP-PLUS

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: To optimize the ecological and economic network of coastal areas and promote sustainable development, a coastal ecological network optimization model on the basis of Multi-Objective Programming coupled with Patch-Generating Land Use Simulation Model (MOP-PLUS) is proposed, and verified with Zhejiang Province, China as a case study. The new model can optimize ecological land data in coastal areas, and optimize ecological economic networks in coastal areas. The ecological land data in coastal areas has shown that the proportion of arable land area in coastal areas has decreased to 14.02% in the past decade, while forest coverage and grassland coverage have increased to 66.25% and 0.84%, respectively. The dynamic change in land use has increased by 67.78% from 2013 to 2018. The economic priority strategy in coastal areas improved the regional economic situation, resulting in a 36.54% increase in economic growth. Balancing ecological and economic development has a good effect on improving the ecological economy of coastal areas, while constructing ecological sources and corridors can enhance the coverage of the ecological network. It can be seen that optimizing the ecological and economic network in coastal areas can optimize regional ecological and economic construction. This has good guiding significance for optimizing ecological and economic networks in coastal areas. This provides scientific basis and decision-making support for achieving a balance between ecological protection and economic development in coastal areas, and has important guiding significance for promoting regional sustainable development.
