Methodological Reflections on the Development of a Provider Preference Study to Guide Development of a Polypill for Heart Failure With Reduced Ejection Fraction

Type: article
Abstract: In this issue of Journal of Cardiac Failure-Intersections, DeJong and colleagues provide a detailed report of the five-step approach they used to select attributes for inclusion in a discrete-choice experiment (DCE) and the development and piloting of a survey embedding the DCE to inform the design of a polypill for HFrEF for use in a future randomized clinical trial.1 Their plan to elicit providers’ preferences to guide design of a therapy optimized for implementation in clinical care is a forward-thinking effort to pre-emptively address prescribing-related barriers and concerns of patients.
