The study addresses the dialectic of presence and absence in the poetry collection Corridors of Absence by the poet Ahlam Mansour Al-Qahtani. It aims to uncover its intersections as one of the prominent phenomena in the collection. The significance of the study lies in its examination of the forms of expression of the themes of presence and absence through the descriptive-analytical method of textual analysis. It seeks to explore their connotations within the text, their relation to the poet’s psyche, and to demonstrate the value of binaries in shaping the aesthetic of the text and highlighting its artistic merit; ultimately, to reach the core of the texts and their intended purpose. The study of the intersections of presence and absence was conducted across six spheres: (the sphere of the self – the sphere of the feminine – the sphere of the male – the sphere of emotions – the sphere of time and space – the sphere of language). The study concluded with a summary of the main findings, most notably: the dialectic of presence and absence manifested across different spheres, enriching the semantic depth and reinforcing meaning. In the sphere of the self, the poet expressed the presence of her selfhood and independence through the use of both independent and attached pronouns, while her employment of absence was carefully regulated, remaining indirectly related to the self. Additionally, her stances in the sphere of the male varied regarding presence and absence through two significant aspects: first, highlighting the woman’s ontological existence even in the absence of the male; and second, not excluding the male and maintaining his presence in the woman’s life.
