Pore Pressure Evaluation and Reservoir Quality in the Abu Madi Formation, Disouq Concession, Egypt: A Foundational Study for Sustainable Hydrocarbon Development
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This study comprehensively analyses the Abu Madi Formation in the Disouq Concession, Egypt, integrating well logs, pressure data, core descriptions, and seismic surveys to evaluate reservoir quality and pore pressure distribution. Both wells, SSG-1-1 and SSG-1-2, encountered a high-quality Messinian gas reservoir with excellent porosity (23-28%). A key finding is the distinct 10-meter difference in the gas-water contact (GWC) between the two wells, which, coupled with consistent pressure gradients, confirms a common hydrocarbon charge and the presence of a critical lateral fault seal. This precise subsurface characterization is crucial for optimizing well placement and production strategies, directly supporting Egypt's sustainable development goals. This research enhances the region's economic viability and long-term energy security by maximizing resource recovery and minimizing environmental impact through data-driven decisions. The findings demonstrate that a detailed understanding of reservoir compartmentalization is instrumental for effective and responsible hydrocarbon resource management.
