Sodium Pyrosulfate as a Catalyst for One‐Pot Synthesis of 2‐Substituted‐4(3 H )‐Quinazolinone Derivatives
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: ABSTRACT A novel one‐pot procedure for the condensation of anthranilamide with benzaldehydes bearing different substituents to 2‐substituted‐4(3 H )‐quinazolinone derivatives 3 was successfully developed, employing sodium pyrosulfate as a catalyst. Eleven products of 2‐substituted‐4(3 H )‐quinazolinones were generated in moderate‐to‐good yields of 58%–81%, and their structural properties were characterized using UV–Vis, Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), and high‐resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) analyses. This synthetic approach had several advantages, including the use of an environment‐friendly solvent, straightforward synthesis, and simple handling process.
