Exercise after pulmonary embolism: a call for greater nuance in interpreting safety and efficacy
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Extract We read with great interest the systematic review by Xiang et al. [1], which addresses the critical question of the safety, feasibility and effectiveness of exercise training for patients after a pulmonary embolism (PE). The authors are to be commended for synthesising the available evidence in this emerging field of rehabilitation. Their conclusion that exercises appears safe, feasible and beneficial for exercise capacity and quality of life is encouraging. However, we believe that certain methodological limitations in the reviewed literature, which were not fully explored in the discussion, warrant a more cautious interpretation of the findings.
