Type: article
Abstract: This paper explores methodological approaches to assessing the competitiveness of enterprises, with a particular focus on oil and gas companies. The theoretical basis of the study is represented by the works of authors who deal with the competitiveness of enterprises in the industry, who have developed the concept of competitive advantages, and who have developed approaches to the formation of competitive strategies. The authors have developed a basic scheme for studying the methodological tools for assessing the competitiveness of enterprises in the oil and gas sector of the economy. To this end, various methods for analyzing the competitiveness of enterprises in the industry have been studied, including index and integral methods, expert-analytical methods, and strategic methods. The study also uses simulation methods, which allow for modeling the dynamics of competitiveness indicators and determining their sensitivity to changes in the external and internal environment. The authors have developed a conceptual framework for studying methodological tools for evaluating the competitiveness of enterprises in the oil and gas sector. The level of competitiveness of an oil and gas enterprise under conditions of external instability and sustainable development policies was determined using scenario modelling. The proposed methodology was tested on the dataset of financial statements of Transneft Siberia JSC for 2024, employing scenario assumptions (pessimistic, inertial, and innovative), derived from a synthesis of industry and macroeconomic forecasts. The study found that under the innovative scenario, the integrated competitiveness indicator increases over the forecast period. Moreover, the sensitivity analysis of individual competitiveness indicators demonstrates the influence of financial and innovative potential on the long-term development of oil and gas companies.
