Abstract: This study uses data from India’s 2019 Time Use Survey to explore how access to clean energy (such as fuel and electricity) influences children’s time use across genders. Results show that clean energy access leads to children spending less time on unpaid household chores and more time on learning and personal development. Additionally, the gender gap in these activities decreases when families have clean energy, a trend supported by evidence from the government’s PMUY scheme.
