Abstract: The prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) increases with advancing age. AF is associated with thrombotic complications—stroke and embolism—and bleeding complications as well as frailty, syncope, and falls.1 All of these complications become acutely relevant in the trauma bay, and provision of multidisciplinary care to patients with traumatic injury and comorbidity of AF on anticoagulant therapy is a routine practice for both trauma surgeons and consultant cardiologists alike.
