Configuration of Lightning Channels Photographed by Still Cameras Equipped With Liquid-crystal Shutters

Abstract: Lightning channels were observed through the year in Hokuriku, Japan with many still cameras equipped with liquid-crystal shutters.The observation was carried out from November 1992 until March 1994.During the period of the observation, 111 incidents were successfully photographed which include photographs showing several lightning channels in a frame.Based on these data, aspects of transmission line faults and seasonal variation of the characteristics of lightning channels are partially known.
