Effects of Acidification on Artifacts in Archives and Museums

Abstract: The pollutant sources leading to indoor acid deposition; types of damage observed; and SO2 and NOx levels measured are reviewed for archives, libraries and museums. Recently proposed air quality design criteria for heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for cultural institutions are presented.
