Molecular Insights Into Synergistic and Competitive Interactions of Probiotic Strains in Caco-2 Co-culture Models: a Review

Abstract: This systematic review explores the synergistic and competitive interactions of probiotic strains in Caco-2 co-culture models, focusing on their molecular impact on intestinal barrier integrity. A structured search will be conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and SciFinder, following PRISMA guidelines for study selection. The review will assess methodological quality using the Adapted SciRAP in vitro tool and categorize findings based on probiotic interactions, molecular mechanisms, and study variations. Bibliometric analysis (VOSviewer) will identify research trends and gaps.
