A Biomimetic Approach to Area Decontamination and Active Radiation Shielding Inspired by Earth's Magnetosphere
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: This project proposes a new biomimetic concept for active radiation protection and decontamination of contaminated areas. The concept is based on the principle of Earth’s magnetosphere, which naturally protects the planet from cosmic radiation. The proposed system involves the use of a localized electromagnetic field to redirect and collect charged particles into a shielded area. This approach can be applied in environments with elevated radiation risks — particularly in space, nuclear energy, accident zones (Chernobyl, Fukushima), or medical technologies involving radiation therapy. The concept combines biological inspiration with engineering principles, opening new perspectives for the development of advanced types of active radiation shielding.
