The Impact of Using ChatGPT for Software Development in the Workplace on Information and Job Security; The Impact of Generative AI Accessibility in the Workplace for People with Disabilities
Year: 2025
Type: dissertation
Abstract: My technical work and STS research are both on topics within the realm of generative AI in the workplace. While they explore different aspects of this technology, they are tied together by a shared interest in understanding how generative AI tools, specifically ChatGPT, are changing work environments, shaping access to opportunity, and presenting new challenges around ethics and equity. My technical capstone focuses on how the use of ChatGPT in software development affects information and job security, while my STS research investigates how generative AI tools either enable or hinder accessibility for people with disabilities in the workplace. Although these projects approach the technology from different perspectives, both are motivated by the broader question of who benefits from AI’s integration into labor systems, and at what cost.
