Abstract: The prevalence of poor mental health has been a significant concern across the US, and college students are a critical point of focus because the onset of many mental illnesses is between adolescence and early adulthood. There has been an increase in the rates of depression, anxiety and other mental health illnesses rising on university campuses. Currently, access to clinical mental health treatment in collegiate spaces may be insufficient, as it is in many populations. Nevertheless, universities can become a source of effective prevention as well as incidence treatment. Health and Well-Being Coaching (HWC) is a novel intervention within the efforts to turn towards prevention medicine. Stanford University established a Well-Being Coaching (WBC) program in the fall of 2019, and this paper aims to investigate the potency of the program. This paper suggests that Stanford's Well-Being Coaching program increases student mental health through strengthening skills promoting self-efficacy and flourishing.
