Abstract: As a result of demographic change, an increasing number of newcomers are working in libraries in all sectors. As a result, there is a growing need for in-service library training that goes beyond on-the-job training. The demand for basic training courses is particularly high and hardly in line with demand, but there is also need for further qualifications that ideally lead to a recognized professional or academic qualification. All in all, there are relatively few opportunities for further qualification in the DACH region – as described below – and even fewer with a focus on academic libraries, meaning that there is a need for additional digital or hybrid offerings.
