Type: article
Abstract: The experiment was carried out in the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory of the Department of Horticulture and Landscape Engineering - College of Agriculture, University of Karbala for the period from August 2024 to December 2024 on the effect of lighting type, cytokinin and phenylalanine on the emergence and multiplication of vegetative branch farms of Mentha piperita plants and stimulating them to produce chemical compounds in independent factorial experiments and using a completely randomized design (CRD). The results can be summarized as follows: BA at a concentration of 2 mg L-1 was superior in achieving the highest percentage of the number and length of vegetative branches which amounted to (34.02 branches/plant-1, 9.05 cm) respectively. Phenylalanine was also superior at a concentration of 2 mg L-1 in achieving the highest rate of the number and length of vegetative branches, and concentration of chlorophyll, carbohydrates, proteins, peroxidase, catalase and proline, which amounted to (42.89 branches Plant-1, 9.45 cm, 4.24 mg g-1, 5.59 mg g-1, 16.13%, 1.99 absorption unit minute g-1, 3.01 absorption unit minute g-1, 2.59 μ g g-1). As for the effect of lighting, colored LED was superior in the number of branches, their lengths, and the concentration of chlorophyll, carbohydrates, proteins, peroxidase, catalase, and proline, which reached (44.19 branches Plant-1, 12.69 cm, 4.15 mg g-1, 4.83 mg g-1, 15.27%, 2.00 absorption unit minute g-1,3.29 absorption unit minute g-1, 2.85 μ g g-1) respectively.
