Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Slides for a presentation for Deakin University Library on 14 August 2024 titled 'Critical Librarianship: Action & Agency in the Library.' Critical Librarianship questions power and challenges the ‘traditional library model’ and its inherent bias, with the goal of dismantling inequalities and empowering communities. It entails applying critical thinking lenses to library practices. In this presentation, I discussed the idea of libraries as social actors with agency and how our professional practice is informed by our values.
