Telomere-To-Telomere (T2t) Genome Assemblies for Livestock and Poultry
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: What is a T2T assembly? Telomere-to-Telomere (T2T) assembly refers to the complete sequencing and assembly of a genome from one end of a chromosome (telomere) to the other. T2T assemblies are free of gaps, capturing even the most difficult-to-sequence regions, including centromeres and highly repetitive sequences. They provide an unprecedented level of accuracy and completeness in genome sequencing. These were made possible with the introduction of long read sequencing technologies like PacBio HiFi and Oxford Nanopore Technologies (ONT)
