Year: 2024
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: Kelantan's cultural heritage, deeply rooted in its traditions and artistic expressions, is facing challenges from modern influences and globalization, which threaten the preservation of its unique identity. This paper examines the innovative use of coffee painting as a medium to safeguard and promote Kelantan's cultural heritage. The study identifies the problem of diminishing traditional art forms and explores coffee painting as a creative solution to engage both local communities and a global audience. By using coffee, a widely accessible and symbolic material, this medium connects the heritage of Kelantan with contemporary art practices, making it relevant to younger generations. The research highlights the significant impact of coffee painting in raising awareness about Kelantan's culture, fostering cultural pride, and providing economic opportunities for local artists through commercialization. Furthermore, the study discusses the potential of coffee painting to be marketed as a unique cultural product, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of the local economy. By integrating traditional motifs with modern artistic techniques, coffee painting not only preserves but also revitalizes Kelantan's cultural identity, ensuring its transmission to future generations. This paper underscores the importance of innovative approaches in cultural preservation and the role of the arts in promoting sustainable cultural heritage.
