Abstract: CHERNETIDAE Menge, 1855 Chernetidae is a large family with about 580 species belonging to 101 genera. Only 13 species belonging to 7 genera were found on Passalidae, and these species were collected from 31 species of Passalidae. In addition, Lustrochernes sp. were collected from four species of Passalidae. In total, the Chernetidae were collected from 33 species of Passalidae (Aguiar and Bührnheim 1992, 1998; Poinar et al. 1998, 2011; Castillo and Villegas-Guzmán 2016). Most species were collected from Passalus punctiger (5), P. interruptus (Linnaeus, 1758) (4), P. rhodantropoides (Kuwert, 1891) (4), and Verres furcilabris (Eschscholtz, 1828) (4) and the largest number of hosts found was for Lustrochernes aff. reimoseri (22), L. intermedius (Balzan, 1892) (12), and Americhernes aff. incertus (12). Six species were collected from only one host each. On four species of Passalidae only Chernetidae were found: L. intermedius, L. aff. reimoseri on Popilius marginatus (Percheron, 1835); L. intermedius on Passalus robustus (Percheron, 1835); Americhernes aff. incertus on Veturius paraensis Luederwaldt, 1927; L. aff. reimoseri on Veturius aff. platyrhinus (Tables 2, 4, 5, 14).
