Cerebral Vasculature and Disease Pathology of Ischemc Stroke and Role of Phytochemicals in Ischemic Stroke Therapy
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Cerebral ischemic stroke is considered as an improper supply of oxygen due to the altered homeostatic mechanisms in the cerebral blood vessels. Brain cells have high metabolic rate and so are sensitive to oxygen deprivation. Nutrient rich blood in brain is supplied by arterial circulation and the used blood drains out by venous circulation which is together referred as ―cerebral circulation‖ whereas the restricted blood flow initiates several abnormalities in blood vessels which together contribute to hypoxic-ischemic insult.
