Data Processing and Progress Update for PANOSETI

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Panoramic SETI (PANOSETI) will be an array of wide-field telescopes observing the entire northern sky for transient astrophysical sources and pulsed technosignatures at visible and near-infrared wavelengths. Capable of imaging at frequencies between 10^-9 to 10^0 seconds, PANOSETI will expand the search area for short-period variable sources well beyond the ability of other searches. The array will provide the advantage of coincidence detection for differentiating terrestrial from astrophysical sources. PANOSETI currently has three telescopes in operation at the Lick Observatory and plans ultimately to observe the sky with a collective 4,500 deg^2 field of view at a given moment. I will share updates on the progress of PANOSETI and describe my role in contributing to the project through Python-based software development for data processing and source identification.
