Possibilities of using the AGROVOC thesaurus when working with documents the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

Abstract: The article notes the importance of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations as the leading UN agency on food security and the world publisher of unique industry information resources that are openly available to the general public. The role of the Belarusian Agricultural Library as a depository library of FAO in Belarus is shown. Sources of acquisition, organization of open access and specific features of indexing FAO documents are considered. Attention is paid to the advantages, service capabilities and prospects of using the AGROVOC multilingual thesaurus for indexing FAO documents.
