Candona intermedia Bronstein 1947
Year: 2024
Type: other
Abstract: (2) Candona intermedia Bronstein, 1947 and Candona maloemorensis Meisch et al., 2019 syn. nov. Meisch et al. (2019a: 11) noted that (a) Candona intermedia Bronstein, 1947, described from Lake Baikal, was preoccupied by Candona intermedia Furtos, 1933 known from North America and (b) consequently renamed Bronstein’s species as Candona maloemorensis nom. nov. However, these authors (op. cit.) had overlooked that a new name had already been given to the Baikal species, namely Candona intersita Mazepova, 1990, from which it follows that the name Candona maloemorensis has become obsolete and must be considered a synonym of Candona intersita.
