Firmware Architecture and Safety Standards in Battery Energy Storage Systems
Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) play a crucial role in modern energy infrastructure, offering efficient energy management and stability for renewable energy sources. This research delves into the firmware architecture essential for the reliable operation of BESS, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety standards. It explores the layered design of firmware, covering aspects such as real-time monitoring, fault detection, communication protocols, and energy management algorithms. Furthermore, the study examines compliance with international safety standards such as UL 1973, IEC 62619, and ISO 26262, ensuring safe and robust operation. By addressing the interplay between firmware design and safety standards, this research provides a roadmap for developing firmware solutions that meet the demands of high-performance and secure energy storage systems.
