Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: : The retention of employees is a big challenge for organization that has a cost implication on turnover, thus affecting productivity. This study looks at the relationship between organizational culture and employee flight risk as this varies with industries. It has been suggested that with a strong culture in which transparency is encouraged, leaders genuinely support their employees, and career growth is available as an option, employee attachment is likely to be enhanced and turnover intentions diminished. The research is based on a quantitative approach with a structured questionnaire being used to source primary data from 400 employees across industries in Pune. The stratified random sampling technique was used to achieve representation across different job levels and industry sectors, respectively. The hypotheses were tested using regression analysis and ANOVA via SPSS statistical software. It was found that organizational culture has a significant influence on employee retention, with leadership styles, communication, and growth opportunities being aspects that are crucial to achieve this. Employees who see their culture in the workplace as positive and in line with their values show little intention to leave. The results of ANOVA confirm that turnover intentions differ with career stages, therefore, retention strategies must, therefore, be customized. The study concludes that organizations must focus on implementing culture-based retention strategies in the areas of leadership development, open communication, and structured career advancement. Employee engagement programs and continuous learning mechanisms should be seriously considered as flight-risk mitigation measures. Future studies could look into the impact of industry-specific cultural settings on employee retention trends.
