Abstract: This paper examines the relevance of metal casting and its role in the industrial developmentof Nigeria. The industrial development of Nigeria revolves around the use of machines toproduce, do jobs, and render Services than doing it manually Casting of metals are the endproduct produced by the foundry industries. Metal casting are used in a variety of industrieswhich directly affect the industries and the end users of the cast products, such industriesInclude, automotive, medical prototypes, aerospace applications, electronics, defense, hardware, household, art and plant machinery. It is of great importance to the development ofNigeria's industrial sector, because it can be used to produce shapes, large pieces and partswith internal cavities to feed the needs of the country. Casting can produce very complexgeometry and intricate shapes which could not be produce by machining or with othermanufacturing processes. Ferrous and non ferrous metal materials could be cast and used tomake small to very large size parts. Through casting tighter dimensional tolerances can beachieved because they are poured into a mold.
