Isolation and Labelling of DNA

Year: 2024
Type: article
Abstract: The DNA isolation involves extracting pure DNA from cells or tissues, ensuring that it is free from contaminants such as proteins, lipids, and RNA. This isolated DNA is then suitable for a range of downstream applications including PCR, sequencing, and genetic cloning. Labelling DNA, on the other hand, is a technique used to tag DNA molecules with fluorescent or radioactive markers. This makes it possible to visualize, track, and quantify DNA during various processes such as hybridization and gel electrophoresis. By attaching these labels, researchers can study gene expression, identify genetic mutations, or map genomic sequences with precision.
