A Geographical Review of Eco-Tourism in Maharashtra

Abstract: According to the latest Tourism and Travel Development Index (TTDI)2024, India has been ranked 34th among 119 countries offering great tourism experience as published by the world economic forum. Indias tourism industry play a significant role in the growth of economy by contributing almost 10% of the GDP. Tourism market is expected to reach 125 billion by the end of 2025. Vast and diverse attractions ranging from heritage tourism to adventure and cultural experience, India offers a large landscape and diverse canvas where foreign and domestic tourist can explore the various parts of this culturally rich and demographically vibrant country. This article aims to explore the problems faced by the Tourism industry in India, like safety and accessibility, travel infrastructure, tourism ecosystem and seasonal fluctuations etc. Study aims to understand initiatives taken by Government of India to promote and build succent Infrastructure for the growth of tourism in the country. Study also aims to provide suggestions to overcome the bottlenecks
