Linguistic features of epithet in the Ossetian language

Abstract: The purpose of this article is to study the semantic and figurative-expressive properties of epithets in the Ossetian language, and to determine their connection with the culture of the people. The topic is relevant because the semantic-stylistic and cultural features of the epithet in the Ossetian language have not been studied, its role in the creation of a poetic picture of the world has not been determined. In modern poetry, traditional epithets acquire new imagery and evaluative meaning. The conclusion is made that epithets with anthropomorphic semantics prevail in Ossetian poetry, and denote the moral, ethical, and social values of the people.
