Faith in the Storm: Integrating Christian Resilience into Emergency Management Frameworks
Year: 2025
Type: preprint
Abstract: This paper makes a straight-up case for what a lot of folks in emergency management keep missing—the Church has been holding it down during disasters long before the plans got drafted. While agencies are setting up command posts, pastors are already feeding families, checking on widows, clearing debris, and praying with people who just lost everything. This isn’t theory. It’s lived truth. I break down how Christian resilience—built through faith, community, scripture, and service—has been showing up in storms, pandemics, war zones, and small towns like Hackleburg, Alabama. I’m not asking anyone to make room for the Church. I’m saying it’s already there. It’s time we stop treating it like a side note and start treating it like the strategic partner it’s always been. If we’re gonna build systems that actually help people heal, then we better start including the ones already doing the healing.
