Attachment Styles and Their Influence on Adult Relationships
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Understanding how we relate to others is central to both individual well-being and the health of our communities. Attachment theory posits that the emotional bonds formed in early life set the stage for later relationships. Over the past few decades, researchers have expanded this framework to explore how adult relationships are influenced by these early attachment patterns. This article critically reviews key research on attachment styles and examines their implications for adult relationships. It also considers how interventions might foster healthier relational patterns, ultimately contributing to better mental health and social cohesion.
